Tuesday May 2, 2006 Site Launch & Introduction

Welcome to the new site launch of the Events Section here on The Think Network! We’ve setup this site to provide you with the continuous world-wide event coverage and discussion. Most of those upcoming events you see on the right side we will be at, providing non-stop direct coverage straight to here.

Anyway, here is a little introduction to myself, Alex, the head events writer… I’ve been a LANer and gamer for most of my life. Of course I can remember getting my first Gateway PC “way-back-when” and booting up Tie Fighter or Rebel Assault 1 or any of those ancient games (Myst anyone?). I went from throwing LANs at my own house in our basement to working with EverLAN, one of the very large up-and-coming nation-wide LANs. I’ve embraced the entire LAN community and have had the privilege of attending LANs around the US (and soon around the world).

At heart I am a Real-Time Strategy gamer. But one day at an internet cafe (when I used to only have 28.8kbps) I was suckered into playing some Counter-Strike and since then the doors have been opened. Every game is equal in my book. I have close friends who play 2D fighter games and Super Smash Brothers only, and I have friends who are the best Unreal Tournament or Battlefield players around. I respect all games and above all just love to head out and frag all night long at LANs, wherever they may be. I hope you enjoy this great coverage we’ll be providing from around the world. And if you ever see me around or just want to chat, go right ahead. Hell, maybe I’ll even buy dinner one night.
